Gwangju lost both of their meetings with Japan’s Vissel this season but will have home ground advantage for the first time in a tie that will decide if their inaugural journey in the AFC Champions League Elite will continue into the quarter-finals.
Vissel have proven to be tough opponents for Gwangju, with the Korea Republic side not managing a single shot on target in both previous encounters.
They are, however, unbeaten at home in the AFC Champions League Elite, winning three and drawing one of their four League Stage matches and will look to joint-leading scorer Jasir Asani to fire them into the quarter-finals.
Vissel will tread carefully despite their lead, with the Japanese champions having lost their last two away games in the AFC Champions League Elite.
They have also not been in free-scoring form on the continent and it won’t be a surprise if the gameplan will be do defend their advantage from the first leg.
