New Zealand started brightly, the fleet-footed Dylan Manickum looking dangerous, but it was Libya who made the breakthrough. Zreeg capitalised upon a mistake, sold his marker the dummy and, when Mike Antamanov partially blocked his shot, Khamis tapped it over the line.
Zreeg doubled the lead before Abuksheam fired into an unguarded net to become the first goalkeeper to score at the tournament. Ditford did nevertheless grab the Futsal Whites a late consolation with a sublime volley.
The sides return to Andijan Universal Sports Complex on Wednesday, when Libya play Kazakhstan and New Zealand meet Spain.
