Even though the result put them in the difficult position of needing a win against group leaders FC Nasaf in their final game, Justin wants his side to take the positives from the match against APF and start building towards Saturday’s winner-takes-all encounter.
“I think the result was a fair one as both teams played their hearts out in a very difficult match,” said Ganai. “I want to thank my players for showing their fighting spirit in this game.
“I know Nasaf is a very good team. We should be ready for their style and good players. Hopefully we can do well in the next game.”
APF created the better of the chances in a rain-soaked match at Likas Stadium with Sabah goalkeeper Nurul Azurin needing to be at the top of her game to deny the opponents the win.
After losing their opening match to Nasaf, APF needed three points to stay in the running to reach the group stage but it wasn’t to be and head coach Rajendra Tamang knew her side didn’t produce enough on the day.
“It was a solid point in a good game where both teams played well,” said Tamang. “Sabah have good players especially their keeper, who was superb. In the end, we didn’t create enough chances to win the game.”
